The Benyancé Shoot

Waiting for puppies to be born is like watching a kettle boil. Time seems to slow down! In the week before the arrival of the puppies my son’s girlfriend thought that we should have a little fun with Benya and dress up her tummy for a 'pregnancy shoot’. Benya was such a good sport and played along beautifully. She loved having the attention and we helped her cooperate with the promise of fresh cold watermelon cubes. It was a fun day that resulted in a happy memory and this lovely photo of the mom-to-be.

The puppies were born by caesarean section on July 14th at 19:30. We are happy to welcome 9 puppies, 5 girls and 4 boys. They are all healthy and strong and are growing like crazy! The surgery was tough on Benya but she has such a love of her puppies that she has powered through the difficulty and has been nursing and caring for her puppies since the birth. She is now well on her way to recovery and we are all relieved that she can now relax a bit with her newborns. We are going to have our hands full with this litter! The puppies are already mobile and powering around the whelping box at will! They are a demanding, loud and incredibly strong. We are absolutely thrilled.

Many people wonder if the names we have given them are their official names. The answer is no. We like to give the puppies distinct litter names and ribbon patterns so that we can differentiate them later on when we are looking backwards in time.
