Mashona Benya Kikuyu Zubayda

Benya came to our family from the Mashona kennel in Switzerland in 2018. When I arrived in Switzerland to see the 12 puppies of the litter all the puppies were asleep except Benya. I quietly called to her and she immediately trotted over to the edge of the large puppy enclosure, stood on the tip of her toes and allowed me to pet her. She was so curious, active, unafraid, friendly and always seemed to be awake! After several days with the puppies it was time for me to fly home. They puppies would not be ready for their homes for many weeks. Right before it was time to leave for the airport to head home I took one last glance over at the puppies. All the puppies were asleep, except Benya of course. She was sitting in the middle of the puppy enclosure looking straight at me. I walked closer the the gate and this time she ran to the gate and stood up whining for me to pick her up, which I did. I knew at that moment looking into her big brown soulful eyes that she had picked me for her family. It was a very emotional moment for the breeder and for me. We have never looked back. I returned to Switzerland after what seemed like and eternity and brought her home. Benya is still ultimately my dog but she is also at the centre of our family. Some things are just meant to be.
